HUE, Vietnam — La Residence Hotel & Spa implemented the first phase of a green energy initiative this month when the acclaimed riverfront property turned the valve on a rooftop hot water system that continuously heats 4,000 liters of water, serving 39 rooms. The hotel expects to save as much as 60% on electrical consumption by those rooms. Next year, plans call for an expansion of the system to the rooftops of the hotel’s other two buildings, mitigating costs across all 122 rooms of the historic, 1930-built art deco property. The hotel’s engineering crew spent six weeks installing the six panels manufactured by SolarBK, based in Ho Chi Minh City.
