Nam Hai Tempts Families With Exotic Activities

HOI AN, Vietnam — The Nam Hai's reputation as a haven for kids is set to climb with the launch of a summer package built around a pair of activities that trade on the resort's singular location — buffalo cart tours of the rice-paddy-covered Hoi An countryside and kite-making and -flying on a beach Forbes ranked one of the world's best in 2010.

The 'Family Getaway' deal, which starts at US $632 per night for families of three in one room and US $960 per night for families of four in two rooms, also features complimentary airport transfers, daily buffet breakfast, in-room WiFi, non-alcoholic minibar beverages and transportation to and from Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The offer is valid for stays of at least three nights between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2014. Rates exclude government tax and service charges.

“From building sandcastles and making Hoi An lanterns to playing basketball and going on treasure hunts, there’s no shortage of exciting and educational activities for kids to do here,” said Anthony Gill, The Nam Hai’s general manager. “Parents like the setup too because it means they’re free to explore the resort and region without wondering if their children are taken care of and having fun. Everybody wins.”

Since opening on the shores of the East Sea in December 2006, The Nam Hai has made a name for itself among those traveling with children.

At the 100-villa resort 20 minutes from Danang International Airport, qualified staff oversees a daily program of activities while a 100-square-metre play villa built to look like the ancient houses of Central Vietnam offers a wide selection of games, books, crafts and movies to keep kids occupied.

One of the most popular activities is an excursion to the resort’s herb and vegetable garden, where kids are given traditional Vietnamese conical hats and taught how to plant and pick everything from coriander to cucumber.

The Nam Hai's status as a premier destination for families was underscored in November 2013, when Travel + Leisure magazine named it one of the top 5 kid-friendly hotels in Asia.
