HANOI (August 17, 2020) – The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has introduced a special collection of handmade, preservative-free mooncakes, presented in elegant decorative boxes, ahead of the 2020 Mid-Autumn Festival, which will be celebrated on October 1.
The mooncakes, created by Metropole’s chefs, feature a variety of distinctive flavors, ranging from traditional favorites to creative modern interpretations. The six flavors produced for 2020 include Traditional Mix; Black Sesame and Coconut; Green Bean, Dried Apricot and Salted Egg; Caramel with Dried Fig and Candied Orange; Durian, Pumpkin Seed and Salted Egg; and Lotus, Longan and Red Berry Tea.
The hotel has also designed a story around Metropole Hanoi’s experience during the city lockdown in April. The mooncake boxes feature beautiful designs showing the hotel’s exterior, as well as scenes of home delivery, the kitchen and front-office hotel ambassadors wearing masks. The boxes also contain a colorful poster that celebrates the dedication of the medical community in Hanoi and Vietnam as a whole.
“This year, we are proud to dedicate the 2020 Mid-Autumn Festival to all the brave and selfless healthcare professionals on the front lines of the global pandemic. Mooncakes are a symbol of reunion and happiness, and we are delighted to be able to share our legendary mooncakes as well as our appreciation toward the most incredible people,” says Metropole Hanoi’s General Manager William Haandrikman.
Metropole Hanoi’s mooncakes are available in three elegant box options this year: a three-piece box (each piece is 250g) priced at VND 1,980,000, a six-piece box (each piece is 100g) priced at VND 1,980,000, and a six-piece VIP box (each piece is 100g) that includes a bottle of wine priced at VND 2,880,000. These prices are inclusive of 10% VAT.
The hotel is also offering a special mooncake promotion. Anyone who orders six boxes (three-piece boxes and/or regular six-piece boxes) will be entitled to a complimentary one-night stay in a Premium room. Anyone who orders six VIP boxes (a six-piece box with wine) will be entitled to a complimentary one-night stay in a Grand Premium room.
The mooncakes are available at L’Epicerie du Metropole from 26 August to 1 October 2020.
For every box of mooncakes purchased, Metropole Hanoi will donate VND 50,000 to the National Hospital of Tropical Disease.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated annually on the 15th day of the 8th month in the East Asian lunar calendar, is a time for families to come together to enjoy delicious teas and mooncakes, while giving thanks and praying for good fortune in the year ahead. Known as Tet Trung Thu in Vietnam, the festival traditionally signifies the end of the harvest season.
