Meliá Koh Samui Resort Offers Complimentary Night to Mark First Anniversary

KOH SAMUI, Thailand (Jan. 11, 2021) – The first Meliá resort to open in Thailand is turning one this month, offering a complimentary night’s stay to holidaymakers for each night booked in celebration of its first birthday.

Overlooking secluded Choeng Mon Beach on the north-eastern tip of Koh Samui island in the Gulf of Thailand, Meliá Koh Samui opened January 10, 2020. The nautical-themed resort is home to a host of remarkable facilities including a 1600sqm lagoon pool that meanders through its lush grounds like a river and a two-level infinity pool with in-water loungers, as well as two restaurants, an executive lounge, a swim-up bar, spa, fitness center, ballroom and, for families, a kid’s club, outdoor playground and mini water park.

The five-star resort’s ‘buy one night, get one night free’ promotion applies to all rooms and suites for direct bookings made by January 31 for stays until April 30 this year. Starting from THB 4,999 (USD167), the ‘book now and stay later’ deal has a five-day flexible cancellation policy. It comes with daily breakfast for two, a free return airport transfer for bookings for the Premium Pool Access Room and higher accommodation categories, and a 30 percent discount on food and beverage at the resort’s dining outlets for stays of six nights or more.

“Opening a resort as a global pandemic took hold has proven immensely challenging but we are resilient and we’ve already achieved so much such as helping our local community in need, clinching accolades including TripAdvisor’s number one Koh Samui hotel, and introducing excellent guest experiences like Muay Thai boxing classes, a popular Sunday brunch and an ‘Edutainment’ program for kids,” said the resort’s general manager Ernesto Osuna. “To mark our first birthday we’re giving you a present; a complimentary night for every night you book with us and you’re able to stay later in light of Thailand’s recent flare-up of the virus.”

The offer is combinable with the Thai Government’s ‘Rao Tiew Duay Kan’ (We Travel Together) campaign designed to encourage Thai citizens to travel domestically.

The resort has a raft of stringent health, safety and hygiene measures in place to protect guests, staff and the community from COVID-19 as part of a global program called “Stay Safe With Meliá”, developed in collaboration with certification, inspection and testing company Bureau Veritas.

Meliá Koh Samui has also obtained “Amazing Thailand Safety and Health: SHA” certification, developed by Thailand’s Ministry for Tourism in collaboration with public and private sector partners to mitigate the threat of COVID-19 and elevate the country’s tourism industry standards. Under the certification, Meliá Koh Samui must follow strict COVID-19 control guidelines by Thailand’s Department of Disease Control and Ministry of Public Health regarding sanitation and social distancing.

The resort’s rooms and suites range from deluxe rooms with a standalone bathtub on a private balcony to elegant two-story boat suites made from teak wood merchant vessels that are more than 100 years old, offering either sea views, direct pool access or garden views. Premium pool access rooms have private terraces that segue to the lagoon pool. The family suites, at 104 sqm, include sofas, a dining table and family games. Rooms and suites that belong to ‘The Level’, an upgraded level of service and benefits, provide access to The Level Lounge that boasts a vast open terrace with panoramic views of Choeng Mon Beach.
