Meliá Hotels International Supports Dream Trip for 60 Disadvantaged Youth Impacted by COVID-19

Ba Ria – Vung Tau, VIETNAM (21st July, 2023)On the 19th and 20th of July, Vietnam Airlines and SpaceSpeakers Group in partnership with Meliá Hotels International, Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort and Heartbeat Vietnam Social Enterprise Co., Ltd. hosted the Dream Trip, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for disadvantaged children from Ho Chi Minh City affected by COVID-19.

The Dream Trip is a campaign jointly organized by SpaceSpeakers Group and Vietnam Airlines to create opportunities for underserved and vulnerable Vietnamese children to experience their dreams in real life and spread positive messages of love to the community. Meliá Hotels International, a Spanish-founded hotel group with a large footprint in Vietnam, is supporting the activity this year by hosting the children at one of their popular oceanfront resorts near Saigon, Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort.

Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort brought a “dream travel day” to underprivileged children through a range of experiential workshops and fun activities for children from 10 – 14 years old, hosted at the property. The group of kids had the opportunity to immerse themselves in music, a painting workshop, and a visit to the hotel’s thriving organic garden followed by a cooking class.

“We hoped to create a space where these kids can just be children for a day and forget about their worries,” said Mr. Alvaro Berton, the general manager of Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort. “It was an action-packed day that we believe they’ll treasure for years to come.”

The Dream Trip campaign was founded on the belief that all children deserve the right to dream, grow up healthy, and shine in their own way. The collaboration between Vietnam Airlines and Meliá Hotels International is the first of what both companies hope will be many, as they share a similar community vision.

“Meliá Hotels International actively seeks opportunities to help the local community in all the destinations we serve,” said Mr. Ignacio Martin, managing director Asia Pacific. “Sustainability, in all its various forms, is a core driver behind what we do and we seek to eradicate inequality where we can.”

Last year Meliá Hotels International launched the Travel for Good Campaign, which outlines the company’s commitment to a more sustainable future for all. These include: Good for the Planet, the company’s environmental strategy and projects; Good for our People: Meliá’s commitment to enhancing the talent of its employees and improving equality and diversity; Good for the Community, the company’s commitment to local communities to help meet their needs, generating economic and social value that helps eradicate inequality and promote peace, well-being and progress; and Governance for Good, Meliá’s ethical and responsible commitment to stakeholders and ethical management of its supply chain.

“The Second Dream Trip is a continuation of Vietnam Airlines’ ‘Flights of Love’ campaign. We are very pleased to join hands with organizations and businesses to bring educational and memorable experiences to children with difficult circumstances,” said Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines. “Vietnam Airlines is proud to promote the mission of the national airline, contributing to the sustainable development of the community and spreading humane values.”
