3TAIPEI, Taiwan (Oct. 3, 2016) – Twenty-six years after openings its doors as Taiwan’s first, major international hotel brand, the Grand Hyatt Taipei is launching its first-ever spa.

Opened just in time to celebrate the hotel’s anniversary this year, the new Oasis Spa combines ancient Eastern wellness rituals with luxury European-inspired skincare treatments, allowing guests to indulge in the best of both worlds.

Overlooking a tranquil rock garden, the spa has been designed in synergy with the hotel’s recently refurbished contemporary Taiwanese décor. Grey slate stone, mood lighting, restorative sounds and uplifting aromas further enhance the spa experience.

The Oasis Spa features three treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite, heated thermal baths, steam and sauna rooms, and a cold plunge pool, in addition to separate men’s and women’s relaxation lounges equipped with reclining leather armchairs.

“Taiwan is famous for its geothermal hot springs located on the outskirts of the capital,” said Sammy Carolus, the hotel’s general manager. “Visitors can now take advantage of our luxurious spa retreat and thermal plunge pools right in the heart of Taipei city.”

The expertly-curated treatment menu features a variety of body scrubs and wraps, custom facials, massages, as well as a selection of two- or three-hour signature journeys – each designed to Calm, Revive, Heal and Renew depending on the guests needs. Products by US skincare brand Kerstin Florian are incorporated throughout.

One of the spa’s signature experiences, Calm, uses “moor mud” from Hungary’s Heviz Lake, the largest mineral lake in the world. The 180-minute treatment includes a therapeutic “moor mud” body wrap to promote circulation and release toxins, a Swedish-style deep tissue massage to knead away aches and pains, followed by a moisturizing “moor mud” mask to lift, firm and hydrate the skin.

“Moor mud is an excellent way to detoxify and de-stress the skin, especially after a long haul flight. The mineral-rich, black mud was first used by ancient Romans for its unique healing properties. Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker are all huge fans,” said Vicky Wu, the hotel’s spa manager.
