HANOI, Vietnam — If King Kong were not a figment of some moviemaker’s imagination, there’s a very good chance he’d have climbed up out of the wilds of Vietnam, where producers of Kong: Skull Island filmed much of the soon-to-debut movie. That’s why Exotic Voyages is leading a discovery tour of otherworldly settings in actual Vietnam where much of the movie was shot.

INLE LAKE, Myanmar — Unlike such icons as floating vegetable gardens, stilted wooden homes and Intha fishermen who propel their boats with a one-legged rowing style, Myanmar’s Inle Lake region isn’t famous for winemaking. Yet. To give travellers a taste of Myanmar’s budding wine industry, Sanctum Inle Resort has launched its ‘Wheel and Wine: Cycling to Red Mountain Half-Day Tour’ by bicycle to Red Mountain Estate, situated nearby in the undulating hills overlooking the storied lake. The journey through spectacular countryside skirting Inle Lake starts at the resort, situated on the lake’s banks. During the 40-minute ride to Red Mountain, guests pedal past sugar cane fields and through shady, sleepy villages including Maing Thauk, half of which is set on land while the other half sits on stilts over the water and is linked to the shore by a 400-metre wooden bridge.

SINGAPORE - Eschewing the grand for the petite, Hua Hin’s newest retreat, Hotel Bocage, may be small with just six rooms, but it’s thinking big when it comes to luxury. Soft-opening in the first quarter of 2017, the hotel has opted for a small scale approach to the number of rooms, but has maxed out room area, privacy, views and sophistication. Sleek open plan rooms and suites with a crisp colour palette of white and grey, range in size from 42 to 75 square meters (452 to 807 square feet). Luxury Italian designer brands have been tapped for the decor with plush beds by Porro, contemporary sofas by Living Divani and freestanding tubs and sanitary ware by Antonio Lupi. Floor to ceiling sliding doors lead to private balconies, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, in this resort town located just 2.5 hours from Bangkok.

SAN FRANCISCO — People are smart, and people breathe, but most of us wouldn't think the same of the walls that surround our living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. A couple of building professionals are trying to change that perception with what they believe is the smartest, most breathable wall ever developed. Called the ‘Smart Wall,’ the system is made of efficient, resilient and sustainable products, including Havelock Wool sheep’s wool insulation, Pro Clima wall lining membranes and Gutex insulation board. The solution was conceived by Lucas Johnson and Andrew Legge, two men who moved into the building materials space because unwitting and careless decisions were — and still are — damaging our health and the planet.

TOKYO - New England has its fall foliage, Holland its tulips and Provence its lavender, but none can compare to the cherry blossoms that open every spring along Tokyo’s avenues and waterways. Blossoming Tokyo, launched to coincide with spring in Japan, introduces guests to the beauty of sakura (cherry blossoms). During peak bloom, guests will be privately chauffeured about the city in a luxury automobile for a three-hour tour of the city’s best sakura viewing spots. And after peak season, the tour can be tailored entirely to wherever they would like to go in Tokyo – whether it be Ginza for a shopping spree or Aoyama and Omotesando for an art and architectural tour.
