Ubud Resort On Bali Opens Pool Spa Villas

UBUD, Indonesia — The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud debuted three new pool spa villas on the Island of the Gods last week, headlining a series of sublime developments across GHM’s portfolio of spas.

The new pool villas satisfy pent-up demand for a more exclusive and intimate experience at the renowned 20-room boutique property, once the private estate of one of Indonesia’s foremost designers, now one of the top-performing hotels on consumer review websites such as TripAdvisor.

Each villa now features a pool — 3.5-metre wide by 7-metre long — ensconced in a private courtyard bound by walls of elegant Balinese stone.

Ironwood decks the floor of the interior spa treatment facility, and new furnishings update the appeal of villas originally built as part of Hendra Hadiprana’s personal estate.

“People who come to Ubud crave the opportunity to make the most of as much quiet, contemplative time as they can,” said Simon Spiller, the hotel’s general manager. “With pools in their courtyards, and treatment facilities nestled between their indoor living space and outdoor bathing area, we’re cultivating even more exquisite levels of privacy.”

Private spa treatments are de rigueur with every pool spa villa booking at the hideaway estate.

Elsewhere across the GHM portfolio, the spa experience is central to a series of ‘Rejuvenate In Style’ packages that offer accommodation, dinner, spa treatments and a clutch of other benefits exclusive to each hotel’s particular destination.

Further, there are a number of additional spa developments at GHM, namely:

•    Pregnancy Massage Beds. In spas from Switzerland to Vietnam, GHM is installing specially designed tables for travellers on babymoons. Concurrent with delivery of the new tables, GHM’s spa therapists are adding ‘ila Mother-To-Be’ treatments to their spa menus.

•    New Spa Menus. In August, The Nam Hai unveils its new spa menu. In October, there will be a debut at The Chedi Muscat, and new menus to follow in December at The Chedi Andermatt, The Legian and at The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud.

•    The Legian Bali. Topping off a 2013 refurbishment that wrapped up in October, the spa is adding a hammam to its oceanfront perch on the dramatic shores of Seminyak as part of its wellness development plans.

All of this comes just six months after GHM unveiled The Chedi Andermatt, a Swiss haven with a Jean-Michel Gathy-designed spa facility that spans 2,400 square metres and includes 10 deluxe treatment suites, Finnish saunas, sol steam baths and two swimming pools including a temperature-controlled outdoor lap pool.
