HANOI, Vietnam —The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is once again proving some things only get better with age.

International luxury magazine Robb Report lauded the 112-year-old Metropole as one of the World’s Top 100 Hotels in its prestigious annual rankings of the best urban properties in 100 cities worldwide.

The award is the latest in a string of accolades for the historic 364-room hotel. The Metropole garnered 21 awards in the past year alone, and was listed in the Travel + Leisure 500 Best Hotels in December 2012, and on Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List for 2013.

Selection of the top 100 hotels in Robb Report’s travel guide, published in its May 2013 issue, was based on consultations from the magazine’s editors and correspondents, as well as travel associates and experts in the luxury hospitality industry. Inclusion in the final round up was reserved for the very best of upscale hotels in each destination.

The Metropole was one of only two Vietnamese properties to place in Robb Report’s rankings for this year, and the only hotel listed within the Vietnamese capital. The Park Hyatt was the only other Vietnamese hotel to make the top100.

“Many upscale properties have opened recently in Vietnam, but there is still nothing quite like the Metropole,” said Kai Speth, the hotel’s general manager. “To be singled out as one of the best hotels in the world by the discerning editors of Robb Report speaks to the undying appeal of this legendary hotel.”
