TAIPEI, Taiwan — Two hundred forty employees of the Grand Hyatt Taipei came together in a flash-mob boogie last week as part of the hotel’s 24th anniversary celebration. Chefs, housekeepers, bookkeepers, engineers, and even the hotel manager got down to a medley that included “Happy” and “Party Rock,” drawing guests from rooms and lobby-side restaurants to witness the five-minute spectacle. Hotel staff started practicing for the faux-spontaneous happening in July and perfected their choreography over eight lessons. The hotel recently emerged from a two-year room renovation project that stripped all 853 rooms and suites to their concrete foundations before refurbishment. With the lobby and two more restaurants on the verge of renovation, the hotel is steering toward a Grand Reopening event and a 25th anniversary next year.
